Dragtimes: McLaren 720S vs Ford GT in the 1/2-Mile

With the ever-increasing power levels of exotic cars, racing in the 1/4 mile is a fool's errand. That's why our friend Brooks at Dragtimes took two of his prized possessions down to the Everglades. It was the setting of the recent WannaGoFast event, which draws exotic cars and spectators from around the U.S. For a quick refresher, the Ford is powered by a twin-turbo 3.5L V6 making 647 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque. The McLaren 720S doesn't have a selection process to purchase one, and it uses a twin-turbo 4.0L V8 to offer 710 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque. The trick is, McLaren tests their engines in the worst conditions, so real-world horsepower is much higher. While the Ford GT is sold out, click the link below to find a 720S near you, and stay with us for all your Dragtimes updates. Want a McLaren 720s? Bad News: Sold Out Through 2018

After seeing the McLaren 720S when it was first revealed, I was taken by the car's design. McLaren has given the car a new look that is unlike their other cars, such as the 570S, 650S and P1.Well, the new look of the 720S seems to have paid off, because AutoCar is reporting that over 1,500 order have been taken for the new supercar. This means anyone who's looking to pick one up for themselves may have to wait until later on in 2018 or even 2019. Autocar also noted that some customers have placed two separate orders: one for immediate deliver, while the other would go through the MSO department for lengthy and detailed customization work.Of course, owners of the 720S will be selling their supercars in due time and you'll be sure to find them in duPontREGISTRY.com's McLaren listings.
